Beyond Positive Affirmations: Why Creative Questions Shift Your Energy Faster

A conscious woman like you already knows positive affirmations well; you’ve probably used them hundreds of times.
And yet, there are moments when it feels like… they don’t work.

Because no matter how much we want to feel safe and enough, sometimes the mind still whispers:

“If he’s not reaching out… It’s because he’s not into you.”

Why don’t affirmations always work?

Because of mental resistance.

When you use affirmations, it’s very common to run into this “resistance,” especially when you’re just starting. This resistance shows up as negative thoughts that rise up against the affirmation.

Here’s an example:

“I am amazing.”

This is a powerful affirmation to strengthen your worth and your feminine greatness.
But if your past relationships have made you feel “not enough,” it’s very likely that instead of feeling empowered, your conscious mind will immediately fire back with thoughts like:

“Of course you’re not amazing, if you were valuable, your ex wouldn’t have left you.”

“And that other one wouldn’t have cheated on you.”

“And it’ll probably happen again, because men are all the same…”

And no, it’s not that your mind is evil or that it hates you (even if it sometimes feels like it).
This is how the mind works. The conscious mind hates new things. It needs familiarity to feel safe, and it tries to recreate the same emotional conditions over and over, even at the expense of your happiness.

So when you try to “reprogram” it with affirmations, it pulls up a protective barrier and automatically rejects them.

It’s her way of saying:
“This isn’t familiar. The body isn’t reacting the usual way. This feels unsafe, so I’m going to block it.”

Afirmaciones positivas
Sometimes, affirming not enough to believe it.

What to do when your mind rejects Positive Affirmations?

To dissolve this “thought resistance,” I want to share a powerful tool I learned from my mentor and Feminine-energy Coach, Dr. Mónica Garaycoechea. It’s called Creative Questions, and as the name suggests, it means using questions instead of affirmations.

When the conscious mind sees a question, instead of arguing, it becomes curious and creative… It relaxes.
This method, although referred to by different names, has been widely studied by authors like Noah St. John and Abiola Abrams.

So what exactly are Creative Questions, and how do you use them?

Creative Questions are positive affirmations turned into empowering questions that the mind accepts with far less resistance.

Instead of:

“I deserve to attract a reliable man who emotionally provides for me.”

We ask:

“Why do I deserve to attract a reliable man who emotionally provides for me?”

See how easy it is?

You just need to add “WHY” to any affirmation to transform it into a Creative Question.

It’s important to understand that even though it’s a question, you don’t need to force an answer.
If a pleasant answer comes up, enjoy it briefly and let it go.
If an unpleasant one shows up, let it drift away without attaching meaning or creating a story.

The answers don’t matter… what matters is the declaration inside the question.

Creative Questions are used just like affirmations. You can repeat them throughout the day to interrupt negative thought loops or to reprogram your subconscious. If you want to learn more about the power of Positive Affirmations, you can read this article on my blog:

When should you use Creative Questions?

Use them anytime you feel your mind resisting the affirmation. Once resistance breaks, you can return to the original affirmation or continue with the Creative Question, whichever feels better.

“The quality of your life is determined by the quality of the questions you ask yourself.”
Tony Robbins

Stop asking yourself discouraging questions like “Why does this always happen to me?” or “What’s wrong with me?”
Start replacing them with Creative Questions, and you’ll feel a profound shift in your life and your well-being.
